World mechanic
Moon Phases
The Overworld moon goes through 8 phases, one per day, and repeats every 8 days (160 minutes).
Rules
| Phase count | 8 phases. Each lasts one full day and night (24,000 ticks, 20 minutes). |
| Phase order | Full moon, waning gibbous, third quarter, waning crescent, new moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous. |
| Full cycle | All 8 phases take 192,000 ticks, which is 160 minutes. |
| Time skips | Sleeping through the night and /time changes move the phase along with the time. While the clock is paused, the phase does not change. |
| Other dimensions | The Nether and The End have no moon phases. |
