Command
/teleport
Moves entities to a position or to another entity, optionally setting where they look. /tp is a shorter name for the same command.
| /teleport <destination> |
| /teleport <location> |
| /teleport <targets> <destination> |
| /teleport <targets> <location> |
| /teleport <targets> <location> facing entity <facingEntity> [<facingAnchor>] |
| /teleport <targets> <location> facing <facingLocation> |
| /teleport <targets> <location> <rotation> |
| /tp ... (the same as /teleport) |
| Argument | Kind of value | What to type |
|---|---|---|
| <destination> | Target selector | The single entity to teleport to. One entity only. |
| <location> | Exact position | The position to teleport to, as x y z. Accepts ~ and ^ relative coordinates. |
| <targets> | Target selector | The entities to move. Any number of entities, given as a selector, a player name or a UUID. One or more entities. |
| <facingEntity> | Target selector | A single entity that the targets turn to look at. One entity only. |
| <facingAnchor> | Entity anchor | Which part of the facing entity to look at: eyes or feet. Default: feet. |
| <facingLocation> | Exact position | A position, as x y z, that the targets turn to look at. |
| <rotation> | Rotation | The direction to face after arriving, as two numbers in degrees: horizontal first, then vertical. Accepts ~ for relative values. |
| Permission level | 2: operators, worlds with cheats on, command blocks and functions |
| Works in | Server operators, players in a singleplayer or LAN world with cheats enabled, the server console, command blocks and functions. |
| Short forms | /tp |
| Result | Reports who was teleported and where (the coordinates, or the name of the destination entity). Returns the number of entities teleported. |
| Forms | /teleport <location> and /teleport <destination> move the entity running the command. /teleport <targets> <location> and /teleport <targets> <destination> move the listed entities. Rotation and facing are only available in the form with targets and a location. |
| To an entity | The targets take the position, the dimension and the facing direction of the destination entity. |
| To coordinates | The targets arrive in the dimension where the command is run. Without a rotation or facing, each target keeps the direction it was looking in. |
| Relative coordinates | ~ is relative to where the command is run (for a player typing it, their own position). ^ is relative to the direction the command is run in, as ^left ^up ^forward. The two styles cannot be mixed in one position. |
| Rotation | Two numbers in degrees: the horizontal turn first, then the vertical tilt. ~ makes a value relative to the current rotation of each target. |
| Facing | facing <position> turns the targets toward a position. facing entity <entity> [eyes|feet] turns them toward an entity; without the last word they look at its feet. |
| Limits | Fails with "Invalid position for teleport" if X or Z is below -30000000 or at 30000000 or more, or if Y is below -20000000 or at 20000000 or more. |
| After arriving | Vertical speed is reset to zero unless the target is gliding with an Elytra, and mobs stop walking to where they were going. |
| Alias | /tp accepts exactly the same forms as /teleport. |
