How the game works it out
| Colour of a block | The mean colour of its texture, worked out in linear light, for the top and for the side most of its sides show (a Furnace's side, not its front), as the block is when placed |
| Which blocks | 349 full blocks a player can place; blocks that can be seen through, blocks that take their colour from the biome (grass, leaves), mushroom blocks, Chiseled Bookshelves, infested and suspicious blocks and waxed copper (it looks the same as unwaxed) are left out |
| Comparing colours | Colours are compared in OKLab, where equal distances look about equally different |
| Gradient | Each step is the block closest to the colour at its place between the two end blocks; a block is used again only when no other comes near |
| Similar colours | The 12 blocks closest in colour to the chosen one |
