Smithing and Armor Trims
What the Smithing Table does: upgrading diamond gear to Netherite, every armor trim pattern and material, where the templates are found and what a copy costs.
How it works
| Inputs | Every smithing recipe takes a smithing template, a base item and an addition. Taking the result uses one of each. |
| Netherite upgrade | Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template, a diamond item and one Netherite Ingot give the matching Netherite item. |
| What carries over | The upgraded item keeps everything on the diamond item: enchantments, custom name, damage taken and armor trim. |
| Armor that takes trims | Helmets, chestplates, leggings and boots of Chainmail, Copper, Diamond, Golden, Iron, Leather and Netherite, and the Turtle Shell. |
| Applying a trim | Template, armor piece and one trim material give the same armor with the trim. It keeps its enchantments and name. A new trim replaces the old one; applying the exact same pattern and material again gives nothing. |
| Copying a template | 7 Diamonds, the template and its copy material from the patterns table, crafted in a Crafting Table, give 2 of that template. |
| Netherite template copy | 7 Diamonds, a Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template and Netherrack give 2 Netherite Upgrade Smithing Templates. |
| Netherite template location | Bastion Remnant chests: 100% in treasure chests, 10% in bridge, hoglin stable and other chests. |
