Trading rule
Villager Levels
A villager gains experience from every trade and rises through 5 levels, from Novice to Master, adding up to 2 new trades at each level.
| Levels | Novice, Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert and Master. |
| Experience needed | Apprentice at 10, Journeyman at 70, Expert at 150 and Master at 250 villager experience in total. |
| Experience per trade | Each use of a trade gives the villager a fixed amount set by that trade, between 1 and 30. This is separate from the experience the player receives. |
| Trades per level | A villager starts with 2 trades and adds 2 more at each new level, picked at random from that level's list, for 10 trades at Master. |
| Levels with one trade | A level whose list holds only 1 trade adds 1 trade: Butcher at Expert and Master, Fisherman at Expert, Shepherd at Master, Toolsmith at Master, Weaponsmith at Journeyman and Master. |
| No repeats | The 2 trades added at a level are always different from each other. |
| Level up | The villager levels up the moment its experience reaches the next threshold. The new trades appear at once and the villager gets Regeneration I for 10 seconds. |
| Player experience | Every trade drops 3 to 6 experience points for the player. The trade that levels the villager up drops 8 to 11. |
| Highest level | Master is the last level. A Master villager adds no more trades. |
