Container Comparator Output
A Redstone Comparator reading a container outputs signal strength 0 when it is empty and 1 to 15 depending on how full it is.
| Empty container | Signal strength 0. |
| Formula | With at least 1 item inside: 14 x fullness, rounded down, plus 1. |
| Fullness | Each slot counts as the items in it ÷ the most it can hold of that item. All slots are added up and divided by the number of slots. Empty slots count as 0. |
| Stack sizes | An item that stacks to 16 fills its slot with 16. An unstackable item fills its slot with 1. |
| Full container | Every slot filled to its limit gives signal strength 15. |
| Half full | Fullness 0.5 gives signal strength 8. |
| Slot counts | Hopper: 5. Dispenser and Dropper: 9. Chest, Barrel and every Shulker Box: 27. A double Chest counts as one container with 54 slots. |
| Hopper examples | One full stack of 64 and four empty slots: strength 3. A single item that stacks to 64 and four empty slots: strength 1. |
