Mining efficiency
Efficiency adds level x level + 1 to a tool's mining speed, but only on blocks the tool is already fast at.
Rules
| Bonus | +2 at Efficiency I, +5 at II, +10 at III, +17 at IV, +26 at V. |
| Condition | The bonus applies only when the tool's own speed on that block is above 1. A pickaxe with Efficiency digging Dirt gets nothing. |
| Added first | The bonus is added to the tool's speed before Haste, Mining Fatigue, the underwater penalty and the off-ground penalty are applied. |
| Examples | Diamond Pickaxe on Stone: speed 8 without Efficiency, 34 with Efficiency V. Golden Pickaxe on Stone: 12 and 38. |
