World Size and Finding Structures

How it works

World border	By default the border is a square 59,999,968 blocks wide, centered on X 0, Z 0, so it stands at 29,999,984 blocks in each direction.
Border damage	A player more than 5 blocks outside the border takes 0.2 damage per block beyond those 5 blocks, rounded down, and at least 1 per hit.
Void	Falling more than 64 blocks below the lowest build height deals 4 damage every half second: below Y -128 in the Overworld and below Y -64 in the Nether and the End.
World spawn	New players and players without a bed appear within 10 blocks of the world spawn point (the respawn radius game rule). Mobs do not spawn naturally within 24 blocks of it.
Spawn chunks	26.3 has no spawn chunks. The area around the world spawn point is not kept loaded when no player is near.
Structure spacing	How far apart each structure generates is listed on the page of each structure in the Structures list.
/locate structure	/locate structure <structure or #tag> names the nearest one within a search radius of 100 chunks. Needs command permission.
/locate biome	/locate biome <biome or #tag> finds the nearest matching biome within 6,400 blocks.
/locate poi	/locate poi <type or #tag> finds the nearest point of interest, such as a bed or a job site block, within 256 blocks.
Explorer maps	Cartographers sell maps that mark the nearest structure of one kind within a search radius of 100 chunks. Each costs Emeralds plus a Compass.
Buried Treasure Map	Found in Shipwreck map chests and Ocean Ruin chests. It marks the nearest Buried Treasure.
Eye of Ender	A thrown Eye of Ender flies toward the nearest Stronghold within a search radius of 100 chunks. After 4 seconds it drops as an item with a 4 in 5 chance and breaks with a 1 in 5 chance.
Compass	A Compass points to the world spawn point. In another dimension the needle spins.
Lodestone Compass	Using a Compass on a Lodestone turns it into a Lodestone Compass that points to that Lodestone in the same dimension. If the Lodestone is removed the compass loses its target.
Recovery Compass	Points to the place where the player last died, while in the same dimension.
Dolphins	A Dolphin that is fed Raw Cod, Raw Salmon, Cooked Cod, Cooked Salmon, Pufferfish or Tropical Fish swims toward the nearest Shipwreck or Ocean Ruin within a search radius of 50 chunks.
