Beacon Pyramids and Effects

Beacon Pyramids and Effects

How big a Beacon pyramid must be for each level, how far its effects reach, which effects each level unlocks and what the beam passes through.

How it works

PyramidEach level is one full square layer directly below the previous one: 3 x 3 one block under the Beacon, then 5 x 5, 7 x 7 and 9 x 9. A layer only counts if every block in it is a base block and all layers above it are complete.
Base blocksBlock of Iron, Block of Gold, Block of Emerald, Block of Diamond and Block of Netherite. They can be mixed freely in any layer.
PaymentOne Iron Ingot, Gold Ingot, Emerald, Diamond or Netherite Ingot. The payment slot holds one item, and one item is used each time effects are confirmed.
Range10 blocks per level plus 10. Horizontally the area reaches that far past the Beacon block on every side. Vertically it starts that far below the Beacon and reaches up to the top of the world.
RefreshEvery 4 seconds the Beacon rechecks its pyramid and gives its effects again to every player in range. Only players get the effects.
Effect duration9 seconds plus 2 seconds per level: 11, 13, 15 or 17 seconds.
ParticlesBeacon effects show the faint particles of an ambient effect.
Secondary effectNeeds a 4 level pyramid. It is either Regeneration I or the chosen primary effect again, which raises the primary to level II. Regeneration cannot be the primary effect.
Beam needsThe Beacon only works while its beam is not blocked. Every block above it, up to the highest block in that column, must let at least some light through. Bedrock is the one fully solid block the beam passes.
Beam colorStained Glass and Stained Glass Panes tint the beam. The first one sets the beam to its color. Each later pane or block mixes the current beam color half and half with its own. It changes nothing only when the beam already has exactly that color.
