Then their neighbours built Casa Ombak on the empty lot next door. And suddenly, Faye and Florence had a problem. Their neighbour had a better beach view. Naturally, retirement was no longer an option. Instead, the couple decided to give their beloved home its own transformation — a spacious, light-filled retirement sanctuary with a splash of mid-century luxury, while making absolutely sure they could exploit every possible centimetre of that glorious beach view. 🌿🎵 Designed Around the Couple Florence loves gardening. Faye loves music. So, the renovation had to accommodate both. The couple largely kept the original footprint of their beloved suburban home, preserving some of its character, materials and connection to the neighbourhood. But inside? Almost nothing was sacred. The internal walls came down, the basement was completely rearranged, and a new extension was added to pull even more of the beach into the house. And then came the pièce de résistance: A huge terrace overlooking the backyard and beach, perfect for morning coffee, afternoon lounging, gardening, evening drinks and, most importantly, BBQs.
