๐ ๐ About the Magic Mushroom Mod ๐ ๐ This mod introduces psychedelic effects from new microdosing and tripping interactions on mushrooms. Mushrooms can cause positive or negative reactions.
โ Spoilers โ When consuming magic mushrooms, paras can feel: ๐ Inspiration, focus, elation, hallucinations ๐ Increased skill gain, reduced needs for sleep and nourishment ๐ Desires to spend time outside and socializing ๐ Enlightenment or existential crisis (rare)
Risks of eating bad mushrooms can cause
๐ Increased need to use the bathroom ๐ Exhaustion ๐ Paranoia and scary visuals ๐ Illness and un-aliving (rare)
๐ Bonus content ๐ As a side note, this mod also introduces the mycology skill which can be gained from foraging wild mushrooms or learning about mushrooms on the computer. If you install my โmycologyโ mod, this contributes to performance across 4 related career tracks (ranging from scientific to apothecary endeavors).
๐ตโ๐ซ Effects, strains and intensity ๐ตโ๐ซ Some magic mushrooms are more magical than others. Some arenโt magical at all - some are downright toxic, even deadly. Not all mushrooms are magic - eating a culinary mushroom wonโt do anything... You canโt get high off of a portabello cap from Whole Foods, can you??!
๐ซถ How paras feel on magic mushrooms ๐ซถ The positive effects from microdosing and tripping will vary for different species, in terms of both intensity and duration.
๐คข Taking too much ๐คข Layering microdoses and trips (eating more before an active trip/microdose has worn off) can lead to intensified experiences and puts paras at risk for bad trips and other... consequences.
โจ Rarest of them all โจ One very special, rare mushroom has the potential to bring paras into an existential crisis or enlightenment. If they try to double down on this mysterious species, they risk... an unusual consequence I'll leave for you to find out through gameplay. ;)
๐ Bad trips and unaliving ๐The trip depends on what type of mushroom your para ate, how much, and where it came from. Eating all wild mushrooms will cause a mild temporary upset stomach from eating off the forest floor. It passes quickly. Ultimately, eating toxic mushrooms is the only way to introduce real risk to your paras.
๐ซ How to avoid all bad trips ๐ซ If you're not someone who enjoys the "chaos" aspect of consuming mushrooms, you can avoid this and all other (more serious) negative consequences by sticking to collecting mushrooms and then placing them from inventory before interacting with them - no stomach sickness, and harmful mushrooms will no longer present options to trip or microdose, so when you see options to trip/microdose on a mushroom on your lot, youโre good to go!
โ Which mushrooms will harm paras? โ Toxicity behavior generally follows the vanilla game's rules. If your para eats a toxic mushroom, they can have a bad trip / experience negative consequences. Unaliving can only occur as a direct consequence from consuming the same mushroom that the base game considers to be lethal - Tripping on that lethal mushroom unalives paras instantly. Eating a little may not kill paras (microdosing)โฆ but layering with other mushrooms before the effects have worn off could.
โ Spoilers โ See the โmushroom guideโ in the gallery for spoilers. Please note it's a bit out of date... the possible scenarios have expanded quite a bit since V3.1! Core principles still apply

๐ฌ If you notice something missing... ๐ฌ I recently had to rollback the mushroom related wants system from 3.4. While I was able to get it working independently, I found it created UI bugs when other popular mods related to wants were installed. I suspect this could effect quite a few players, so until I have a more compatible system, th...
