Balanced Build Costs rebalances selected Build Mode prices to make building, renovating, and upgrading a home feel more meaningful and financially realistic.

I created this mod because I wanted the housing economy to feel more balanced. Building homes, major renovations, and better construction should require some planning and saving instead of being surprisingly affordable.

What Does the Mod Change?

Balanced Build Costs increases selected construction prices while keeping the original differences between individual items and styles.

The prices shown above are examples. Individual items can have different base prices and existing price variations, but the listed multiplier is applied consistently to the affected category.

This means that when your household owns or improves a more valuable home, that increased value can also benefit them when the property is eventually sold.

When Starting New Game

For completely new Molino games, Balanced Build Costs applies the Updated Price Template.

This means that residential owned properties already present in Molino begin with purchase values that reflect the new Balanced Build Costs prices.

Existing Saves

Balanced Build Costs also works with existing saves.

Owned vanilla homes, and owned player-built homes will be automatically recalculated using the new prices.

Please note empty housing lots in previous Saves will display their original purchase price because Paralives stores those properties as premade proxy lots with a cached value.

Balanced Build Costs works especially well together with my Home Finance mod.

With higher and more realistic property and construction costs, financing a new home, expansion, or major renovation becomes much more meaningful.

Use Home Finance to give your household additional housing funds, then put those funds toward the more realistic costs introduced by Balanced Build Costs.
