Eight named families ship with the game and are picked from the Character Creator when starting a new save: Bronson Fairfield Wright, Wade, Thompson & DaCosta, Feliz, Skye & Blackwell, Peterson, Parker James, Gate Smith. Each starts with $30,000 and no lot - the player chooses where to settle them.
134 default-town NPCs
The default town fills with 134 NPC households at game start. 27 of them spawn into furnished residences. They are nameless on the data layer - their family names get generated procedurally when you load the save.

42 Residence lots ship with Early Access
24 lore households are pre-assigned to specific named lots in Melino - the Chen family lives at the Chen Household, the Wolf family at the Wolf lot, and so on. The remaining lots are empty templates that players can move into.
