Inherited trait

Hair Color

Hair color is inherited as black, brown, or blond. Black is dominant and blond is recessive, so two dark-haired parents can still have a blond child if both carry the gene.

Dominant to recessive

BlackDominant1 shade in Paramaker

Shows up if even one parent passes it on.

BrownMiddle3 shades to choose from in Paramaker

Shows when no more-dominant version is inherited.

BlondRecessive3 shades to choose from in Paramaker

Both parents must pass it on for a child to show it.

What will my child inherit?

  • Black is dominant: a child shows it whenever at least one parent passes on the gene.
  • Blond is recessive: a child only shows it when both parents pass it on.
  • Two Black parents can still have a Blond child - if both quietly carry the Blond gene, it can surface.
  • Two Blond parents always have Blond children.
