XP multipliers
The XP a hero earns in a battle is multiplied by the game mode, the difficulty and how far the hero is from the level expected for the campaign progress.

Expected hero level
A hero 2 or more levels below the expected level earns ×2 XP; 2 or more levels above, ×0.5. One level off in either direction changes nothing.
