Gardening Unlocked
This mod unlocks in-game functional gardening items currently "hidden" in the code: a Vegetable Patch, Seeds, Tomatoes, Carrots, Eggplants, Pumpkins in addition to a few changes I made: I fixed a visual glitch with the seed packets and added some cooking interactions so your paras can use the harvestables similarly to "Simple Living" in TS4. I also added a computer menu to make ordering seeds feel intuitive and available in live mode. Plants and growth stages included were drawn by the devs. This mod lets your Paras grow them while we wait for the gardening features to be officially released.
How to start
On the computer, go to Order... > Seeds & Spores... and buy a packet of seeds. Place a Vegetable Patch (Build Mode > Planters, $25), choose Plant... and pick your seeds. Carrots take 2 days, tomatoes and eggplants 3, pumpkins 4. While it grows, the Harvest option tells you roughly when it will be ready.
What to do with your harvest
Open the fridge and choose Cook with Homegrown... to make Cream of Tomato Soup, Carrot Cake, Veggie Tacos or Pumpkin Soup for free. One vegetable makes one dish, at the same Cooking level as the normal recipe. Tomatoes and carrots can also be eaten raw, and anything extra sells from the inventory. Put a vegetable down and choose Collect Seeds to get a fresh packet, so one order can keep your garden going for good. Tomatoes, eggplants and pumpkins grow back after a harvest. Carrots come out of the ground, so the plot is ready for new seeds. There are also four decorative plants in Planters (Tomato Plant, Carrot Patch, Eggplant Plant, Pumpkin Patch) that you can harvest too.
Compatibility
Works on its own. Plays nicely with my Magic Mushrooms mod and Zomb's gardening mod. Unlock mod by Rumi Rue - you can search "rumi" in Build Mode.
Experimental mod
I'm sure there's a reason the devs deemed this not ready to ship - but I've been playing with it personally for a few weeks across save files, alongside 800+ mods installed from the workshop and not had any issues. That being said, please use caution and treat this as an experimental mod - back up saves, households, lots accordingly!
