Todaywe refer to this style as an icebox or an ice box (some also call it an ice chest), but this was a full blown refrigerator in the 19th century. Wooden cabinets, often lined with tin or zinc and insulated with wood shavings (sawdust), straw, or cork. This is a fully functional and recolorable fridge.
