Talents and mastery

The Keeper has five masteries: Building, Smithing, Farming, Book writing and Anatomy.

Character

Points and the inspiration bar

Each colour has its own inspiration bar. Claiming an inspiration of that colour adds 1 or 2 notches; when the bar is full it turns into one inspiration point and starts again. The first point takes 2 notches, the second 3, the third 4 and every point after that 5. So 5 points take 19 notches, 10 points 44 and 20 points 94.

More on mastery

Zombie talent trees

Every zombie worker has its own five trees and buys their nodes with the tech points it earns while crafting and the red tech points it earns in won battles, not with the Keeper's. Its mastery is the sum of its mastery nodes, the mastery bonus of the tools it carries and its perks for that kind of work.

Temporary mastery

Prayer for Excellence I, Prayer for Excellence II and Prayer for Excellence III: +1 to all five masteries (God of craftsmen). Pumpkin soup: +2 Building mastery (Building spirit II). Soldier's stew: +2 Smithing mastery (Smithing spirit II). Muffin: +2 Farming mastery (Farming spirit II). Bowl of sauerkraut (bronze): +1 Book writing mastery (Book writing spirit I). Bowl of sauerkraut (silver): +2 Book writing mastery (Book writing spirit II). Bowl of sauerkraut (gold): +3 Book writing mastery (Book writing spirit III). Vegetable salad (bronze): +1 Anatomy mastery (Anatomy spirit I). Vegetable salad (silver): +2 Anatomy mastery (Anatomy spirit II). Vegetable salad (gold): +3 Anatomy mastery (Anatomy spirit III). Third Eye Salt: +2 to all five masteries (Third Eye Salt). Each food buff lasts 450 seconds; God of craftsmen lasts 2,700, 5,400 or 5,999 seconds (I, II and III).

How it works

Every crafting recipe except the Beehive's names a level of one of them. Mastery nodes in the perk tree raise it by 1 each.

Recipes need a mastery level

A crafting recipe names a mastery level, for example Building 2. A normal recipe cannot be worked below it; star crafts and autopsy work can be attempted with at least 1 mastery, and each tick then succeeds with a chance that grows with the mastery. Each tick adds the mastery divided by the requirement (rounded down, at most 3) to the progress bar. Tools in the tool belt add their mastery bonus, food and sermon buffs add to mastery while they last, and 14 talent perks add +2 to +4 for one kind of work.

How high each mastery goes

Mastery

A mastery does not grow by crafting. Its lasting part is the perk tree: the mastery nodes of each tree (+5 in every tree), bought with inspiration points of that colour. Everything else counts only while it is there: every tool in the tool belt that names the mastery (the belt holds one tool of each kind), one food buff, God of craftsmen (+1) and Third Eye Salt (+2). A talent perk adds +2 to +4 more to the recipes it names.
