How it works

Zombies pay for their nodes with the tech points they earn while crafting and the red tech points they earn in won battles, not with the Keeper's. Every node, perk or mastery upgrade, also takes one of the red skulls on the zombie's body: a zombie can buy a node only while it has more red skulls than nodes, and if it later has fewer red skulls than nodes, some of its nodes stop working until it has enough again.

A zombie needs the recipe's mastery

A zombie starts a normal recipe only when its mastery reaches the recipe's requirement; star crafts and autopsy work are the exception, as long as its mastery is at least 1. Its mastery is the sum of the mastery nodes of its own trees, bought with the tech points it earns while crafting and in won battles, the mastery bonus of the tools it carries, and zombie perks for one kind of work, such as +4 Building mastery when working with wood (Master Carpenter).
