Tech points: how to earn red, green and blue points fast
The whole tree costs 11,157 red, 5,129 green and 4,132 blue. Here is where each colour comes from.
To craft new items, you'll need to unlock the relevant technology. This costs tech points. Red points represent your hand-crafting skills, and your ability to work with materials. Green points represent your knowledge about the nature of things and nature itself. Blue points represent your spiritual knowledge of the immaterial world. You'll get your first blue points at the Study Table in the Church basement.

- Things to study
Studying every item once is worth 5,075 red, 6,470 green and 5,385 blue - more green and blue than the whole tree costs, but less than half of the red. Red points have to come from work: gathering and crafting.

Four ways to earn points
You earn points simply by doing things. You can also earn points by studying new items at this special table. Spend Science to study items at the Study Table. Studying items is rewarded with red points, green points, and blue points. Get more by studying and decomposing items that contain Science, like Paper and Science kits. Each item can be studied once, and studying costs energy as it runs.

Every tree, stone and bush you clear pays a few points the moment it breaks. It is small per object but constant, and it is the main early source of red.
Tech points paid for clearing each kind of object.
| Action | Red | Green | Blue |
|---|---|---|---|
| Breaking stones and ore | 1 to 3 | 0 | 0 |
| Picking berry and flower bushes | 0 | 1 | 0 |
| Clearing bushes | 0 | 1 | 0 |

| Harvesting garden beds | 0 | 2 to 12 | 0 |
| Digging and burying graves | 2 | 0 | 0 |
Most crafts pay a few tech points each time. These pay the most per craft - late-game work, but the kind you make in bulk.

Tech point questions
Where do I get blue points?
Your first ones come from the Study Table in the church basement, and studying is the biggest blue source overall (5,385 for studying everything). After that, crafting graves' marble headstones and fences and a few dishes add more.
Can I study the same item twice?
No. Each item pays once. Items that come in bronze, silver and gold quality count as separate entries, so study each quality you find.
What is Science and how do I get more?
Science is what the Study Table spends to study an item. Clean Paper gives 1, Science Kit I gives 30 and Science Kit II gives 60 when decomposed at the table.
I am short on red points. What helps?
Work. Breaking stones and ore, chopping trees and digging graves all pay red points, and keeping workbenches busy adds more - see the crafting lists above for the best payers.
