The house is full of plants, dusty books, second-hand furniture, and half-finished repairs that Elliot keeps insisting he will “get to eventually.” Elliot is the older brother who had to become responsible too early. He is energetic, practical, caring, and good at almost everything, but he has never really figured out what he wants for himself. He cooks, fixes things, looks after people, and quietly keeps the household from falling apart. Ivy is younger, louder, more emotional, and much more social. She makes friends easily, plays music, falls in love with ideas too quickly, and wants life to feel bigger than routine. She loves Elliot, but she hates feeling like he is always watching over her. They are close, but their dynamic is messy. Elliot treats Ivy like she still needs protecting. Ivy thinks Elliot uses responsibility as an excuse to avoid having his own life. Their shared goal is to turn the inherited house into a real home, but they have completely different ideas of what that means.
