Procoptodon is a medium-sized herbivore used primarily for breeding. It is notable for its ability to carry small creatures in its pouch while moving, allowing for safe and mobile transport. This makes it ideal for relocating fragile or low-level creatures across dangerous terrain. It can be carried by Argentavis, Karkinos, Quetzal, or Tusoteuthis for rapid deployment.
It can carry Achatina, Araneo, Archaeopteryx, and Armadoggo in its pouch, protecting them during travel.
Procoptodon spawns in chalk hills, deserts, desert mountains, mountains, oases, snow, and snow-grassland biomes. It is uncommon and appears across 21 ARK maps. The green zones on the spawn map indicate the highest spawn density.

Procoptodon must be knocked out before taming. Use a Chain Bola or Bear Trap to immobilize it, then sedate with darts from a Crossbow using Tranq Arrows or a Longneck Rifle with Tranquilizer Darts. The best food is Rare Mushroom, which provides the fastest taming. Plant Species X Seed also works but is significantly slower. The taming process takes about 71 minutes and requires approximately 133 Narcotics. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing a Procoptodon yields Hide, Raw Meat, and Pelt. The Hatchet yields the most Hide and Pelt, while the Pick harvests the most Raw Meat.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While mounted, Procoptodon can gather a wide variety of resources using its Bite, Kick, or PickUp attacks. It efficiently harvests Berries, Crop Seeds, Mejoberry, Narcoberry, Stimberry, Rare Flower, Rare Mushroom, Wood, Cactus Sap, and Fiber. Each of these resources is gathered at a 10× multiplier, making it highly efficient for plant-based farming.
Procoptodon is highly vulnerable to spike walls, which deal +200% more damage. It also takes +120% more damage from instant melee attacks. Conversely, it is highly resistant to fire, taking -60% less damage. Avoid fire-based weapons when attacking it. Level Health and Melee Damage.

The Bite, Kick, and PickUp attacks all gather resources at a 10× multiplier for most plants and seeds. It can carry small creatures like Achatina and Compy in its pouch during travel. Being carried by Argentavis allows for aerial transport without losing momentum. It takes +200% more damage from spike walls, making them extremely effective in base defense. Avoid using fire weapons when hunting it due to its -60% fire resistance. It can be immobilized with a Plant Species Y.
