Procoptodon
Taming the Procoptodon requires applying enough torpor to knock it out. Use tranquilizer projectiles, then place food in its inventory. The Procoptodon loses Torpor at 0.67 per second while unconscious - stay on top of narcotics.
| Food | Food Quantity (Current/Max) | Taming Time | Effectiveness |
|---|---|---|---|
Rare Mushroom | 1:11:00 | 72 Lvl (222) 96.2% | |
Plant Species X Seed | 1:34:40 | 64 Lvl (214) 86.36% |
Check the taming results to see how long it takes to tame the Procoptodon, what effectiveness you'll achieve, and how many bonus levels it gains. Better food means better results.
Use the narcotic calculator to determine exactly how many Narcotics, Bio Toxin, or Narcoberries you need for the Procoptodon. Narcotics provide 40 Torpor each and are the standard choice. Bio Toxin offers 80 Torpor but is harder to farm. Narcoberries at 7.5 each are a last resort. At 0.67 Torpor drain per second, apply narcotics proactively - a wakeup mid-tame wastes everything.
Use the torpor and starve timers to track your Procoptodon tame in real time. Starve taming is recommended for valuable high-level Procoptodon: let the Food stat deplete first, then add food. This way nothing is wasted if something goes wrong.
Found throughout the ARKs, the Procoptodon is a tamable, herbivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended. It falls within the Breeding classification.
The Procoptodon has 400 base Health - moderately tough. With 100% base Melee Damage, the Procoptodon has decent hitting power. Stamina sits at 350 base, providing solid stamina reserves. Weight capacity starts at 550, giving it an enormous weight pool.
You'll need to knock the Procoptodon unconscious before taming it. Tranquilizers are the standard approach. Rare Mushroom is the most effective food for taming, offering the highest affinity per feeding.
After taming, the Procoptodon combines solid harvesting capability with generous carrying capacity. Breeding is via live birth rather than eggs, simplifying the process. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.31 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
Use the knockout chart to see exactly how many Tranq Arrows, Darts, or other torpor weapons it takes to down the Procoptodon. Wait between shots for torpor to tick up. Firing too fast can kill the creature before it goes down.
To simplify the knockout, immobilize the Procoptodon first with Chain Bola or Bear Trap. Alternatively, use a Argentavis to airlift it into a pre-built trap.
