Unlock ladder
Ninety technologies sit behind thirteen tier unlocks, spread over two separate ladders. Each stage lists what it opens and every research it requires.

How Unlocking Works
- Six researches are available at the Research Table from the start. Every research costs the items shown on its card, taken from the inventory when it is researched.
- Each 'Unlock Tier' research opens the next batch of technologies. The Research Table ladder has eight stages, labeled Tier 2 through Tier 8; the final stage is labeled 'Tier 8' a second time in-game.
- Energy tech does not appear at the Research Table. It is researched at the Electronics Trade Station beside the Merchant's starting point near Tiny Start, once the station is repaired (no items needed), starting with the 'Energy Workbench' research (the seventh starter), with its own Tier 2-5 ladder.
