Mod description
What this mod adds
Talk to Me is a small experimental mod that allows NPC Parafolks to show some initiative in conversations.
⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION: Please note that this mod works ONLY for unmanaged NPC Parafolks. If a Parafolk is currently under your direct control, the mod's features will not apply to them.
🌟 Current Features:
• NPCs can now suggest moving in together, starting an official relationship, getting married, or breaking up.
• NPC partners will actively react to cheating if they catch you being intimate with another Parafolk, immediately demanding a breakup.
• NPC partners will dynamically react to negative treatment. If you intentionally anger or upset your partner (shame on you, but I added 10 custom toxic relationship cards for this purpose that appear when your Para is in a bad mood), your NPC will get furious in return, which can lead to a breakup and mutual hostility.
• After a breakup, an NPC Parafolk might eventually change their mind and suggest getting back together... or they might not.
⚠️ Important Technical Limitations & Known Issues:
• AVOID INTERACTING WITH QUEST-GIVERS! Since the game engine doesn't have an independent NPC initiative system yet, this mod is built on top of the base game quest framework. If you talk to an NPC who is offering a quest (one with an exclamation mark over their head), it will lock the entire mod's logic on a 2-day global cooldown, regardless of whether you accept their quest or not.
To prevent this, please take your quests ONLY from the Bulletin Board!
Completing and turning in quests works perfectly fine and will not affect the mod.
• Emotional triggers may behave incorrectly if there are more than 2 Parafolks present in the conversation group at the same time.
• Some NPC choice cards include randomized outcomes. The chance wheel will spin and display a result every single time under the hood, even if you picked a choice card with a 100% success rate. Just ignore the "Success" or "Failure" notification if the choice was 100% guaranteed; it only actually matters if a specific success percentage is listed on the card.
• If your Parafolk already has an NPC partner at the moment you install this mod, they might immediately throw an unprovoked tantrum during your next chat. This happens because the script cannot track when exactly your relationship started prior to the mod being enabled.
As always, please report any bugs you find in the Bug Reports discussion thread just above.
