Tidepup Taming Calculator

A Tidepup tames on its healing instinct. Get one's attention, then drop something below a tenth of its health for it to fix: either a creature of yours or yourself, using a campfire or a Blood Extraction Syringe. It curls up against the wounded one, heals it, and naps from the effort. Feed it while it naps. Then wound something again and repeat. Regular Kibble is best but it takes most foods, and you will find them in shallow water and streams rather than open ocean.

How this tame works

No knockout

Bring 10 Regular Kibble. About 2 minutes at level 150.

  • Bring a tamed creature below 10% health and wait nearby. It swims over, heals 500 health every 30 seconds, and tires itself out. Feed it while it sleeps.
  • Once it is asleep it eats ordinary food, so the table below is the real one.

Starve & Torpor Timers

Use the feeding timer to know when the Tidepup will accept its next meal. No more guessing between feeds.

The Tidepup, a tamable, carnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended, is a common sight across multiple maps. It belongs to the Shoulder Pet category.

With 100 base Stamina, the Tidepup has low stamina reserves. With 100% base Melee Damage, the Tidepup has decent hitting power. Starting at 100 Health, it's extremely fragile. Weight capacity starts at 150, giving it a reasonable inventory size.

Once tamed, the Tidepup is valued for its harvesting efficiency, collecting key resources faster than most tools. It reproduces by laying eggs, which must be incubated between -75°C and 75°C. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.5 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
