Ferox Taming Calculator

Feed a Ferox Element and it turns into its giant form and chases whoever fed it. Run, survive until it shrinks back, then feed it again. It cannot be fed while it is big, and any Ferox already riding your shoulder should go away before you start. The number of transformations scales with its level, from two at level 1 to twenty at 150, and a faster taming rate does not reduce it.

How this tame works

No knockout

Trigger 20 transformations.

Element needed201 per transformation
Tames at225from level 150
  • Spooking it costs 30s before it will take Element again. That is dead time between transformations, not part of one.
  • The count scales with level, from 2 at the lowest to 20 at level 150. Level, not progress, is what makes a Ferox slow.
  • Its progress is counted in transformations rather than in a bar that fills, so a faster taming rate does not shorten this one.

Starve & Torpor Timers

ARK: Survival Ascended features the Ferox as a tamable, herbivore creature that survivors will encounter in the wild. Classified under the DMG group.

Its base Stamina of 100 gives it tires quickly. Its base Melee Damage sits at 100%, giving it decent hitting power. At 55 base HP, the Ferox is extremely fragile. Weight capacity starts at 120, giving it average weight tolerance.

After taming, the Ferox earns its keep through resource gathering, making tedious farming runs much faster. It gives live birth after a gestation period, making breeding straightforward. Killing a wild Ferox yields 0.5 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.51 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
