Unlock ladder
Ninety technologies sit behind thirteen tier unlocks, spread over two separate ladders. Pick a stage to see what it opens, and everything you have to research before you can stand there.

How Unlocking Works
- Build a Research Table and interact with it: six researches are available there right away. Every research costs the items shown on its card, taken straight from your inventory when you research.
- Each 'Unlock Tier' research opens the next batch of technologies. The Research Table ladder has eight stages, labeled Tier 2 through Tier 8; the final stage is labeled 'Tier 8' a second time in-game.
- Energy tech does not appear at the Research Table. Repair the Electronics Trade Station on the Tiny Start island and research the energy tree there, starting with the 'Energy Workbench' research (the seventh starter), with its own Tier 2-5 ladder.
