Rust FAQ
About the data
Where does the data on this wiki come from?
From Rust itself: the item files of the game client and our own Rust dedicated server, which runs the game's code to read out recipes, loot tables, raid damage and the rest. Nothing is copied from other sites.
How exact are the loot chances?
They are computed from the game's loot tables the same way the game rolls them, and checked against 20,000 fills of sample containers done by the game's own code on our server.
How are the seed maps made?
Each map is generated by the Rust dedicated server for that seed and map size and drawn with the game's own map renderer. Ore nodes are placed at random every time a server starts, so the ore layer shows where ores occur, not fixed spots.
