The Olde Gate House - DesignMeDevon

New homeowner Audrey Golden has lived in a rental home in town for years. Now that she's retired from a successful career as an art historian, she's finally bought her dream home—a real fixer-upper! The Olde Gate House was once the entry to historic Melino Manor (destroyed in a fire in 1937) and has been vacant for decades, falling into disrepair. Audrey has moved in with boxes of books, art, and some old furniture. Her vision for the home is a light, airy space to highlight her art collection (and to create some of her own paintings), as well as cozy nooks (like the one that exists in the upstairs bedroom) for reading and writing. In retirement, she plans to take a break from her academic writing and begin a mystery novel about an intriguing art heist! Audrey isn't much of a cook, and is quite happy eating bread with jam. Surprisingly, the old woodburner in the kitchen is still functional, although not so convenient for a quick meal. The electrics in the home desperately need updating—candles are her main source of light and she hasn't a place to plug in the fridge yet! Audrey has begun the renovation process (mostly clean-up at this stage) in hopes that #DesignMeDevon will step in to create her dream home! #thiscozynook
