What this mod adds

Manual installation required! I recommend my alternative version (click here) without manual installation to most players. Build custom wardrobes and clothing stores! For now, this pack contains 15 clothing items, 12 clothing racks and 7 boards (and a shelf), located in storage -> wardrobes. I want to greatly expand this kit and add more base game edits but also my own cc. Keep in mind that this version will not update automatically (since you’ll move it to the local mod folder). So check in every couple of weeks to see if there’s an update. I’m open to feedback and suggestions! I created this kit with user friendliness in mind so let me know if anything is annoying to work with. Features Variant 2: All 15 clothing items are recolorable. Clothing racks and boards are resizable and recolorable. Clothing items are flippable. A great variety of colorswatches matching the base game items. No tedious adjusting! Clothing items and boards snap to the clothing rack, all can be moved around at once. You can change every item after placing it with the alternate tool (pencil icon). Clothing items are functional (change outfit interaction). Catalog location: Storage -> Wardrobes Catalog search terms: mod, open, wardrobe, closet, kit, goodoldpebbles Build tips Snapping: If you want, disable the snapping by holding ALT while placing the item. Boards: Place the boards on the clothing rack last since their snap function is a little annoying (after resizing the rack they re-centre themselves; I’m trying to figure out if this can be changed). Boards: Placing decoration on the boards make them loose the snapping to the clothing rack (unintended behaviour, but can come in handy). This also applies to clothing items if they’re rotated. Clothing glitches: If you resize the rack with clothing items on it, sometimes the clothing items glitch slightly away. Resizing the rack on the x-axis (do a little wiggle) may snap them back into place. Ceiling mounted racks: For now, the resizing on the y-axis functions as a height slider to make them compatible with the other clothing racks. In the next update I will add another bunch of them which are actually resizable. Differences between the two versions Once again I created two versions since custom recolorable textures are currently bugged. Variant 1 uses the textures of the game (which are not all recolorable) and therefore works without any issues. Variant 2 has custom made textures to slightly expand the customizability. The item’s alternate ability is also texture related. Variant 1: 9 out of 15 clothing items are recolorable, every clothing item has 4 alternates, mod works without any issues, updates automatically Variant 2 : All 15 clothing items are recolorable, every clothing item has 14 alternates, mod needs manual installation (moving the mod folder), does not update automatically Click here for Variant 1 Can I switch to the alternative version without losing my placed items? Yes! Make sure you delete Variant 2 in your local mod folder! Can I use both versions at the same time? No. The textures appear white / transparent There’s currently a bug which prevents the game to load custom made recolorable textures. In this mod the clothing items will appear transparent and only the hangers are visible. To fix this you need to move this mod into your local mod folder. However, the game will remember the textures only in the current save file (the one you load with the “continue” button). So after loading a different save using this version, saving and restarting the game a second time will be needed. I don’t recommend this version to players who switch saves regularly! (Why transparent and not white? In the last colorzone (blue) is a base game transparent texture which overrides the custom made textures.) Installation guide You need to move the mod to your local mod folder. This installation guide is written for windows. You should be able to follow these steps for mac as well, the folder names are different there. (I reused the pictures from a different mod) Step 1: Locate the mod in the steam workshop folder The easiest way to find the mod location is to use the in-game tools. First start the game. Click in the main menu on mods and see a list of your installed mods. (Sometimes they don’t show up in there, this is a bug!). Find the mod in the list and click on the “Show mod folder in explorer” button. You’ll likely find your downloaded mod here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\1118520\...\... Go one folder up to now see the “OpenWardrobeKitVariant2” folder. You will need to move (=cut and paste) this one later. Minimize the window for now but leave it open. Step 2: Locate your local mod folder Using the same method, you can locate your local mod folder. At the top of your mods list you’ll find a nameless local mod. Click “Show mod folder in explorer”, go one folder up, and you’ll be in your local mod folder, most likely in C:\Users\*YourUserName*\AppData\LocalLow\Paralives\Paralives . Leave this window also open. Sometimes windows hides the appdata folder. You can unhide it by clicking in the file explorer at the top on “view” -> “show” -> “hidden items”. Step 3: Exit the game and move the mod Exit the game (!) and move (=cut and paste) the mod from the workshop folder to the local mod folder. After the next restart the items may appear still transparent (only the hangers are visible). Save (!) and restart the game a second time and now the items should appear with their textures and be recolorable. Note: Generally speaking, if you load your save and notice something’s wrong with the placing of your items (floating, completely disappearing, …) do not save as this will permanently overwrite your items positions. First quit without saving and restart the game and check if the cc is working in a new test save. However, missing textures get fixed by saving and restarting so keep that in mind when you try to figure out what is wrong. How to uninstall Unsubscribe the mod in steam and delete the mod in the local mod folder.
