The Gigantopithecus is a tamable, herbivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended. Classified under the Misc group.

Starting at 640 Health, it's solidly tanky. Melee starts at 100% - decent hitting power that scales with level-ups. Stamina sits at 300 base, providing decent staying power. Weight capacity starts at 220, giving it a reasonable inventory size.

The Gigantopithecus is passively tamed - approach it carefully and feed it by hand without knocking it out. Its preferred food is Regular Kibble.

Once tamed, the Gigantopithecus earns its keep through resource gathering, making tedious farming runs much faster. Killing a wild Gigantopithecus yields 20 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.35 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
