Achatina
To tame the Achatina, you need to knock it unconscious first. Tranq Arrows, Tranq Darts, and Shocking Tranq Darts all work. Once unconscious, Torpor drains at 0.1/s, so keep Narcotics or Bio Toxin ready.
| Food | Food Quantity (Current/Max) | Taming Time | Effectiveness |
|---|---|---|---|
Sweet Vegetable Cake | 17:21 | 74 Lvl (224) 99.96% |
The results below show total taming time, effectiveness, and bonus levels for the Achatina at your selected level and food. Higher-quality foods yield more bonus levels.
The table shows how many sedatives you'll need to keep the Achatina unconscious through the full taming duration. Bio Toxin is twice as potent as Narcotics (80 vs 40 Torpor per use), while Narcoberries work in a pinch at just 7.5 Torpor each. At 0.1 Torpor drain per second, apply narcotics proactively - a wakeup mid-tame wastes everything.
Use the torpor and starve timers to track your Achatina tame in real time. Torpor monitoring prevents premature wakeups. The starve timer is for the starve-tame method - let Food drop, then load all kibble at once to avoid waste.
The table below shows how many hits from each torpor weapon are needed to knock out the Achatina at different levels. Wait between shots for torpor to tick up. Firing too fast can kill the creature before it goes down.
To simplify the knockout, immobilize the Achatina first with Bola or Bear Trap. Alternatively, use a Argentavis to airlift it into a pre-built trap.

Found throughout the ARKs, the Achatina is a tamable, herbivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended. It belongs to the Farmer category.
Starting at 75 Health, it's very frail. Dealing 100% base Melee Damage, the Achatina brings solid damage output to the table. With 100 base Stamina, the Achatina has low stamina reserves. A base Weight of 60 means not built for hauling.
You'll need to knock the Achatina unconscious before taming it. Tranquilizers are the standard approach. Feed it Sweet Vegetable Cake for the fastest tame and highest effectiveness bonus.
After taming, the Achatina is valued for its harvesting efficiency, collecting key resources faster than most tools. Breeding is via live birth rather than eggs, simplifying the process. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.69 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
