Combat Training Guide
Pick the combat skill you want to train and enter your combat levels. The guide shows the weapon and shield to use and the monsters that give good XP for your level. Two-handed weapons train an offence skill and its matching defence skill together. With a one-handed weapon, the shield you hold decides which defence skill you train.
Your combat levels
How to train Defence: Equip a two-handed Attack skill weapon or a shield that requires a Defence skill to use. Be in a Defensive stance. (Can be changed in Stance tab. Default Hotkey: V) Benefits: Increases your chance to completely mitigate a Pierce or Slash type damage. Reduces the incoming Heavy type damage while using a shield. Unlocks stronger armour and shields.

Where to train
XP is the combat XP for every 100 damage you deal, as on the Levelling guide. Higher level monsters give more. Highest, Best fit and Lowest are the normal monsters; Darklands monsters and bosses are listed separately below them.
| Pick | Monster | Level | Health | Damage it deals | XP per 100 damage | Why | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Highest XP | ![]() | Ashen Warrior | 95 | 1,500 | Heavy 150, Slash 150 | 146 | Hits with Heavy attacks, so a Block shield reduces it. Tough, a stretch. |
| Best fit | ![]() | Elk | 40 | 500 | Heavy 85, Pierce 40 | 105 | Hits with Heavy attacks, so a Block shield reduces it. Easy for you. |
| Lowest | ![]() | Skeleton Knight | 26 | 350 | Heavy 80, Slash 25 | 95 | Hits with Heavy attacks, so a Block shield reduces it. Easy for you. |
| Darklands (PvP area) | ![]() | Skeleton Knight | 72 | 1,000 | Heavy 125, Slash 75 | 129 | Hits with Heavy attacks, so a Block shield reduces it. An even match. The Darklands is a dangerous PvP area: other players can attack you here. |
| Boss | ![]() | Silvissira | 362 | 12,000 | Heavy 250, Quick 200, Mystical 200, Slash 200, Pierce 200 | 212 | Uses every damage type, so no single shield covers it. Tough, a stretch. |
| Boss | ![]() | The Burning King | 307 | 10,000 | Heavy 200, Quick 200, Mystical 250, Slash 200, Pierce 200, Fire 200 | 207 | Uses every damage type, so no single shield covers it. Tough, a stretch. |
Any monster marked Darklands lives in the Darklands, where other players can attack you. Bring only gear you can afford to lose.
Monsters are matched to your levels using their stats, so the picks are a guide, not a promise. Weapon strength is a simple estimate of the biggest hit at the skill level the weapon needs. Gear that needs a gathering or crafting skill is left out.
