Locked blueprints require a scan, data box pickup, or story trigger to become available, mirroring Subnautica 1's progression loop.
Locked blueprints are recipes whose scan, data box, or story-goal unlock is not yet active in the current build. The recipe details are listed here so you can plan ahead; they'll switch to Unlocked once the matching trigger goes live in a future Early Access update.
Five categories are available right now: Habitat Builder (base placements), Fabricator (handhelds and consumables), Processor (smelting and refining), Modification Station (equipment upgrades), and Vehicle Bay (the floating fabricator used to construct the Tadpole). A residual 'Other' bucket holds recipes that don't fit cleanly into the five yet.
