BACKGROUND 4500-lumen broad-beam, select-spectrum lamp. Simple to fabricate. Invaluable at night or in caves. Safe to aim at fellow colonists, briefly.
Light is a common biological signal that may provoke reactions from alien organisms. Some of these reactions may be desired or useful. Some may not. Be careful where you aim your beam: meaning is in the photosensitive organ of the beholder. You may be posturing for a fight, calling for help, broadcasting your flavor, or even flirting.
The flashlight is not a substitute for sunlight and should not be used as a therapeutic or diagnostic tool.
