About Subnautica 2 resource nodes

Subnautica 2 ships 21 resource nodes in its May 14, 2026 Early Access build, split across ore deposits, flora and biological harvest points. Every node has a fixed drop table: a list of items, the amount that drops, and the chance per roll. The combined expected yield across the full roster is around 61 items per sweep if you broke every node once.

What you'll be breaking, picking and cutting

Every node in the grid above falls into one of three categories. Each plays a different role in the crafting loop.

Ore Deposits

Mineral nodes scattered through the seafloor. Each one drops a fixed amount of a single resource when broken, no rolling.

Examples
Titanium, Copper, Gold, Lithium, Silver, Quartz, Salt, Sulfur, Lead, Pearl, Atacamite.
Harvest method
Hit with the Resonator (or any mining tool) until the deposit shatters.

Flora

Plants, kelp, blooms and growths. Some are hand-pickable for food and fiber, others need a tool to break loose.

Examples
Blight Sap, Bloom Canker, Bloom Web, Sea Olive, kelp clusters.
Harvest method
Hand-pick when prompted, otherwise hit with a melee tool to dislodge.

Biological

Tissue and material harvested from dead leviathans or large creature carcasses. High-value, low-supply.

Examples
Clamthulu material, Axum Rebar deposits, leviathan hide.
Harvest method
Crack with a survival knife or higher-tier cutting tool.

How does resource gathering work in Subnautica 2?

The full loop, from node to inventory. Same survival rhythm as Subnautica 1, with one new layer: co-op crews share base storage automatically.

Break, pick or cut

Each node has a fixed drop table: a list of items, the amount that drops, and the chance per roll. Most ore deposits drop one ore type at 100% chance with a small stack count. Flora and biological nodes can roll multiple items at different chances per break.

Tap any card in the grid above for the exact drop table, expected yield and which tool the node responds to.

Auto-pickup vs scatter

Most resources auto-snap into your inventory the moment they drop, as long as you're within the node's pickup radius (usually 2 to 3 metres). Larger biological drops fall to the seabed and have to be grabbed by hand, which matters when you're harvesting under combat.

Co-op parties share inventory via base storage: anyone breaking a node fills the same pool the whole crew draws from.

Resource gathering questions

01What's a resource node in Subnautica 2?
A resource node is anything you can break to harvest a material: an ore deposit, a flora cluster, or a biological growth on a creature. Each node has a set drop table, a yield amount, and an auto-pickup radius that snaps loose drops straight into your inventory.
02How do you mine ore deposits?
Use the Resonator tool or any mining-class instrument. Each strike chips the deposit until it shatters and releases its fixed drop: one ore type, one stack count. Ore deposits don't roll random loot, so what you see on the wiki is exactly what you get in-game.
03Which resources auto-pickup vs scatter on the floor?
Most ore drops auto-snap into inventory within a few metres of where the node broke. Larger biological drops (leviathan tissue, Axum Rebar) tend to scatter and need to be collected by hand. Check the drop table on each node's detail page for the exact auto-pickup radius.
04Can you farm flora in your base?
Interior and exterior growbeds were confirmed in the Building Bases dev log on March 12, 2026. Co-op crews can plant and harvest food flora through shared base storage, which fills for the whole four-player party.
05Do nodes respawn?
Some do, some don't. Plant flora generally regrows over time, while ore and biological deposits are one-shot until you move to a fresh location. Specific respawn timers haven't been finalised by Unknown Worlds.
