Rescued Teen

April 7th, 1985 - Officers from the FBI and Booneville Police Department descended on a known compound of the Followers of Grace church. After a standoff with armed members of the church at the gate, the officers infiltrated the compound and searched buildings. In a locked shed located in the woods near the compound officers found a teen, later identified as David Benedict, beaten and bleeding. The boy was rushed to Booneville Medical Center for immediate treatment. He was questioned as to what happened to him during the trial of arrested members of the church, but he refused to say anything about it. However, it is believed the church had beat him for being gay.
