Pelagornis Egg & Breeding Calculator

After a successful mate, the Pelagornis lays a fertilized egg. Incubation temperature must stay between 29°C and 32°C - use Air Conditioners, Standing Torches, or Dimetrodons to maintain the range. At the correct temperature, the egg hatches in approximately 1 hour and 39 minutes.

Full maturation from baby to adult takes ~1 day and 13 hours (1x rate), progressing slowly. Hand-feeding is required until 10% maturation. After that, a Feeding Trough handles the rest.

Each baby inherits stats from both parents with a chance of mutation - +2 wild levels to a random stat plus a color change. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.

The hatched dinosaur, now a baby, needs constant attention and food placed directly in its inventory to survive, or a nearby Maewing to take care of its needs.

7:24:26
The dinosaur reaches the juvenile stage, where it can now eat from a feeding trough, reducing the need for direct feeding.
Adolescent

9:15:33
The dinosaur reaches the adolescent stage, becoming more independent and able to follow you while continuing to grow toward full maturity.

Raising a baby Pelagornis involves three maturation phases: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~222 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~15h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~19h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.

Don't skip imprinting - each successful imprint boosts the Pelagornis's stats, and hitting 100% grants a 30% combat bonus when the imprinter rides it. Imprint requests include cuddling, walks, and specific kibble - check the wiki for which kibble to stockpile.

The raising calculator above shows exactly how much food you need for each maturation phase of the Pelagornis. Budget ~222 minutes for the Baby phase - this is when hand-feeding or Maewing nursing is mandatory.

Raising multiple Pelagornis simultaneously? Set the dino count and the calculator scales food requirements automatically. Different food types have different spoil timers - factor that into which food you stockpile.

During the Baby phase (0-10%), you must hand-feed or use a Maewing to nurse. From Juvenile (10%+), dinos can eat from a Feeding Trough on their own. Use Preserving Salt in troughs to double spoil times.

ARK: Survival Ascended features the Pelagornis as a tamable, flying, piscivore creature that survivors will encounter in the wild. It falls within the Flyer classification.

At 240 base HP, the Pelagornis is not particularly tanky. Its base Melee Damage sits at 100%, giving it respectable melee power. With 180 base Stamina, the Pelagornis has decent staying power. A base Weight of 150 means average weight tolerance.

To tame the Pelagornis, you need to knock it unconscious using torpor weapons, then feed it while it's down. Regular Kibble is the most effective food for taming, offering the highest affinity per feeding.

As a tame, the Pelagornis is commonly used for scouting and quick travel between locations. Breeding produces fertilized eggs that hatch within a 29°C–32°C temperature window. Killing a wild Pelagornis yields 3 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.43 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
