The Megaraptor is a carnivorous damage-focused dinosaur. It tames via a special passive ritual at an altar, requiring players to defend the site from waves of enemies. Once tamed, it excels in combat and can be airlifted by Quetzal or Tusoteuthis for rapid deployment.
It is primarily used for its high damage output and unique abilities in battle scenarios.
Megaraptors spawn commonly in snow biomes. They appear across 5 ARK maps, with higher concentrations often found in colder, elevated regions. Check the spawn map for precise density zones.

Taming a Megaraptor requires completing a special passive ritual. Locate its altar and light the surrounding torches to begin. Defend the site from enemy waves while keeping the torches lit. Use a Chain Bola, Bear Trap, or Large Bear Trap to immobilize it if needed during defense. No narcotics are required. Use the calculator below for your settings.
To tame a Megaraptor, locate its altar and light the surrounding torches to begin the ritual. Defend against waves of enemies while keeping the torches lit. Successfully completing the ritual tames the Megaraptor.
Killing a Megaraptor yields Hide, Raw Meat, and Raw Prime Meat. The Hatchet harvests the most Hide, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat. For Raw Prime Meat, use a Dino (Prime) to get the highest yield.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
Megaraptor has a strong vulnerability to Spike Wall damage, taking +200% more damage. It also takes +120% more damage from Instant HurtDinos and +55% more from Melee DmgMetal RaidDino attacks. Conversely, it is highly resistant to Mining Drill Harvest damage, taking -100% damage. Avoid spike walls when using it defensively.
