Required Narcotics

Use the narcotic calculator to determine exactly how many Narcotics, Bio Toxin, or Narcoberries you need for the Kairuku. Narcotics provide 40 Torpor each and are the standard choice. Bio Toxin offers 80 Torpor but is harder to farm. Narcoberries at 7.5 each are a last resort. At 1 Torpor drain per second, apply narcotics proactively - a wakeup mid-tame wastes everything.

Starve & Torpor Timers

Track the taming process with the timers below - they monitor both Torpor and starvation progress. Torpor monitoring prevents premature wakeups. The starve timer is for the starve-tame method - let Food drop, then load all kibble at once to avoid waste.

ARK: Survival Ascended features the Kairuku as a tamable, carnivore creature that survivors will encounter in the wild. It belongs to the Misc category.

Its base Stamina of 200 gives it decent staying power. Its base Melee Damage sits at 100%, giving it decent hitting power. Starting at 95 Health, it's extremely fragile. It carries 70 base Weight - minimal inventory space.

To tame the Kairuku, you need to knock it unconscious using torpor weapons, then feed it while it's down. Basic Kibble is the most effective food for taming, offering the highest affinity per feeding.

After taming, the Kairuku earns its keep through resource gathering, making tedious farming runs much faster. Breeding produces fertilized eggs that hatch within a 22°C–30°C temperature window. A wild Kairuku is worth 0.5 base experience when killed. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.41 Element plus 0 Element per level.
