Planning a mass raise? The Equus raising calculator breaks down food needs per phase so nothing goes to waste. Expect ~278 minutes of active care during the Baby phase before it graduates to trough-feeding as a Juvenile.
Adjust the dino count to calculate food for multiple Equus babies at once - essential for batch breeding operations. Match your food choice to your play schedule - longer spoil timers mean less babysitting.

During the Baby phase (0-10%), you must hand-feed or use a Maewing to nurse. From Juvenile (10%+), dinos can eat from a Feeding Trough on their own. Use Preserving Salt in troughs to double spoil times.
Instead of laying eggs, the Equus carries its young through a gestation period. Gestation takes approximately 8 hours at default rates.
The baby Equus takes approximately 1 day and 22 hours to fully mature at default rates - over a lengthy period. During the baby phase (0–10%), hand-feed it directly. From 10% onward (juvenile), it can eat from a Feeding Trough.
Mutations can add +2 levels to any stat and change colors. Stacking mutations across generations is the key to min-maxed breeding lines. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.
The Equus's growth progresses through three stages: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~278 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~19h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~23h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.
Imprinting during maturation provides permanent stat bonuses. At 100% imprint, the Equus gains 30% bonus damage and resistance when ridden by the imprinter. Keep various kibble types on hand, as imprint requests are randomized between cuddles, walks, and kibble feeding.
The Equus, a tamable, herbivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended, is a common sight across multiple maps. It falls within the Breeding classification.
Its base Stamina of 560 gives it solid stamina reserves. Dealing 100% base Melee Damage, the Equus brings decent hitting power to the table. At 240 base HP, the Equus is relatively fragile. Weight capacity starts at 350, giving it generous inventory space.
The Equus is passively tamed - approach it carefully and feed it by hand without knocking it out. Its preferred food is Rockarrot.
Once tamed, the Equus is valued for its harvesting efficiency, collecting key resources faster than most tools. Breeding is via live birth rather than eggs, simplifying the process. A wild Equus is worth 1 base experience when killed. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.44 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
