Compy Egg & Breeding Calculator

After a successful mate, the Compy lays a fertilized egg. Incubation temperature must stay between 24°C and 32°C - use Air Conditioners, Standing Torches, or Dimetrodons to maintain the range. At the correct temperature, the egg hatches in approximately 49 minutes.

After hatching or birth, the baby Compy matures at a medium pace, reaching adulthood in about 21 hours and 2 minutes at 1x maturation. Hand-feeding is required until 10% maturation. After that, a Feeding Trough handles the rest.

Mutations can add +2 levels to any stat and change colors. Stacking mutations across generations is the key to min-maxed breeding lines. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.

The dino is inside an egg, needing specific conditions to incubate and hatch. The ideal temperature range is 24 - 32 °C.

1:03:07
The hatched dinosaur, now a baby, needs constant attention and food placed directly in its inventory to survive, or a nearby Maewing to take care of its needs.
Juvenile
10% - 50%
4:12:31
The dinosaur reaches the juvenile stage, where it can now eat from a feeding trough, reducing the need for direct feeding.
Adolescent
50% - 100%
5:15:39
The dinosaur reaches the adolescent stage, becoming more independent and able to follow you while continuing to grow toward full maturity.

The Compy's growth progresses through three stages: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~126 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~8h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~11h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.

Imprint bonuses are significant: a fully imprinted Compy gains 30% extra damage and damage resistance with its imprinter mounted. Imprint requests include cuddling, walks, and specific kibble - check the wiki for which kibble to stockpile.

Planning a mass raise? The Compy raising calculator breaks down food needs per phase so nothing goes to waste. The Baby phase (0–10%) takes ~126 minutes and is the most hands-on, requiring direct feeding or a Maewing.

Raising multiple Compy simultaneously? Set the dino count and the calculator scales food requirements automatically. Match your food choice to your play schedule - longer spoil timers mean less babysitting.

During the Baby phase (0-10%), you must hand-feed or use a Maewing to nurse. From Juvenile (10%+), dinos can eat from a Feeding Trough on their own. Use Preserving Salt in troughs to double spoil times.

The Compy is a tamable, carnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended. It falls within the Shoulder Pet classification.

With 100 base Stamina, the Compy has low stamina reserves. Melee starts at 100% - decent hitting power that scales with level-ups. The Compy has 50 base Health - glass-cannon fragile. A base Weight of 25 means minimal inventory space.

The Compy is a knockout tame: apply enough torpor to knock it out, then place food in its inventory. Raw Mutton is the most effective food for taming, offering the highest affinity per feeding.

After taming, the Compy is valued for its harvesting efficiency, collecting key resources faster than most tools. Breeding produces fertilized eggs that hatch within a 24°C–32°C temperature window. Killing a wild Compy yields 0.5 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.07 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
