Overview
The Anglerfish is a carnivorous aquatic creature used primarily for farming pearls in dark environments. It emits a bright bioluminescent lure from its head, illuminating surrounding areas and attracting nearby fish. This makes it ideal for underwater exploration and resource gathering in caves or deep ocean zones. It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Karkinos for fast deployment.
Players tame the Anglerfish to harvest large quantities of Black Pearls and Silica Pearls efficiently while benefiting from its natural light in pitch-black zones.
Spawn Locations
20 mapsAnglerfish spawn in dark underwater biomes such as caves and deep ocean trenches. They are uncommon and appear across 18 ARK maps. Look for glowing indicators in low-light areas, as their bioluminescence makes them visible from a distance.

Tame the Anglerfish using knockout methods. Use a Bow with Tranq Arrows or a Longneck Rifle with Tranquilizer Darts to sedate it safely. Regular Kibble is the best taming food. Raw Mutton also works well. About 10 Kibble are needed. The tame takes around 51 minutes. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing an Anglerfish yields AnglerGel and Raw Fish Meat. The Hatchet yields the most AnglerGel, while the Pick maximizes Raw Fish Meat.

Gathering Abilities
While ridden, the Anglerfish gathers pearls from nodes using its bite attack. It harvests Black Pearl and Silica Pearls at triple the normal rate. This makes it one of the most efficient pearl farmers in the game. Its light also reveals hidden nodes in dark zones.
Damage Resistances
The Anglerfish has a +120% weakness to Instant HurtDinos, such as explosives or charge attacks. It also takes +100% more damage from spike walls. Use these to quickly eliminate it in defense. It is fully resistant to mining drill damage. Level Health and Melee Damage.

Hitbox Multipliers
The Anglerfish has multiple hit zones with increased damage multipliers. The Head, l_eye, and r_eye each take 1.5× damage. The c_bait7 bone at the tip of its lure takes 2× damage, making it the optimal target for efficient tames or kills.
