Aberrant Ovis is a small herbivore variant found in the Aberration map. It features a passive taming method and provides significant weight reduction for harvested resources when carried. The creature is primarily used to gather large quantities of plant-based resources efficiently while reducing inventory load. It can be airlifted by Argentavis, Desmodus, Griffin, Karkinos, Megalosaurus, Kaprosuchus, Procoptodon, Quetzal, or Tusoteuthis for rapid transport to resource nodes.
This makes it ideal for quick foraging runs in hazardous zones where speed and extraction matter.
Aberrant Ovis spawns in caves and fertile zones on the Aberration map. It is very rare and appears on only 14 ARK maps. Players can locate it more reliably by checking the green zones on the spawn map, which indicate the highest spawn density.

Aberrant Ovis is tamed passively by feeding it Sweet Vegetable Cake. No other food is effective. Approach while unmounted and place the cake directly into its inventory. The taming process takes about 1 minute and grants a level 225 tame with no narcotics needed. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing an Aberrant Ovis yields Hide, Raw Mutton, and Pelt. The Hatchet yields the most Hide and Pelt, while the Pick is best for maximizing Raw Mutton.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While mounted, Aberrant Ovis gathers a wide variety of plant resources with its melee attack. It harvests 10× the standard yield from Mejoberry, Narcoberry, Stimberry, Mushroom, Rare Mushroom, Rare Flower, Wood, Berries, Crop Seeds, and all related seeds. It also gathers 8× Fiber and Cactus Sap. This makes it one of the most efficient plant gatherers in the game.
Aberrant Ovis takes +120% more damage from Instant HurtDinos attacks, making it highly vulnerable to such sources. It is -60% resistant to fire-based shooter damage and -50% resistant to explosions and melee attacks with projectile impact effects. Avoid fire-based turrets and explosive traps when handling this creature.
