  • The extinct Mongolian Independent States championed an adventurous, employee-owned frontier. Transgov culture evoked historical Mongolia as a site of competition and synthesis between different ways of life - nomadic and settled, imperial and free, industrial and wild, communist and capitalist, Buddhist and Tengrist. - Broke away from the Chinese Territories in 2158 - Expanded into the Ariadne Arm using one-way, slower-than-light ships - Accused of population abuse; 50% of assets seized by the Trans-System Federation - Destroyed by the kharaa xenosystem
  • Citizenship in the States was not restricted to those of Mongolian descent, but members were encouraged to learn and adopt Mongolian culture and values. Accusations of "cynical cultural strip-mining" by Mongolian citizens of the Sol Transgov stalled out in interstellar courts.
  • Alterra used the high failure rate of the Mongolian colonization strategy to accuse the Mongolian States of population abuse, a Charter violation. This justified a military intervention and asset seizure by the Trans-System Federation.
  • Soon afterwards, the kharaa aliens infected Mongolian space. In the resulting war the Mongolian Independent States effectively ceased to exist. Refugees continue to disperse across transgov space.
