- SOPHIE: Kurultai record, day 665. Nahema wanted to meet tomorrow, as she imagines she is the devil on my shoulder. But she is not as funny as she thinks.
- NAHEMA: You do think I'm funny. Correct that.
- SOPHIE: Nahema is very funny.
- NAHEMA: You never have any life in these logs. You never say ""I think."" Why?
- SOPHIE: So now my ecologist cares about the life of people as well as zooplankton?
- NAHEMA: I love people. It's humans I'm not sure about.
- SOPHIE: Tell me about the humans. We have Anita's Jubilee feeding off the land now. What will happen to the ecosystem?
- NAHEMA: This place is missing the primary production it needs to survive. It's hanging on by a thread - eating dead matter. If we fish and forage, the trophic pyramid just collapses faster.
- SOPHIE: That's not possible. There's so much life - NAHEMA: Life sustained by its own rot. It's a pyramid scheme.
- SOPHIE: Nahema, we have to build a colony HERE. You know Twinkle's secret. Nobody's coming to save us. How do we complete the mission if the coral gardens are dying?
- NAHEMA: Did you think I just meant the coral gardens?
