Plasteel is defined by its fractal structure, which can only be achieved by precision fabrication. In this specific plasteel alloy, nanoscale titanium needles are joined by ceramics of lithium, aluminum and magnesium into intertwined plates, stacks, and fibrils. The overall structure is slightly helical - twisted so that it can scrunch or stretch under compression and tension.
The hierarchical structure of plasteel encourages allows limited self-healing through cold welding. High-level structures tell low-level elements where they belong; low-level structures self-organize to correct high-level damage.
Despite its reputation as a miracle metal, plasteel has its limits. Its self-repairing properties function best in vacuum.
