Two phases. First the drill grinds into the ground while you hold off the wave around it. After it is planted, gauges pop up that you have to keep balanced by spinning their valves. Pressing the big red boss-spawner button finishes the objective. The drill itself takes no damage, so the only way to fail is to let the gauges drift out of range.
