Taming the X-tapejara requires applying enough torpor to knock it out. Use tranquilizer projectiles, then place food in its inventory. Once unconscious, Torpor drains at 0.1/s, so keep Narcotics or Bio Toxin ready.

With Torpor draining at 0.1/s, don't wait until the bar is nearly empty to apply narcotics.
